You may have heard from many Muslim brothers and sisters
that Umrah is an extraordinary experience that is hard to describe in words and
that has changed their lives forever. But, this fact is accomplished simply
until he embarks on the holy journey. For example, many of us cannot even
imagine spending a single day without their cell phones. It is literally
impossible for them to stay out of touch with their colleagues, friends or
family. However, when they reach Mecca to perform the Umrah, there is only one
connection they feel they develop and that is with Allah. Pilgrims put
everything behind them and devote themselves completely to ibadat, so that they
can seek the bliss of Allah Subhan Wa Ta'ala.

Likewise in everyday life, some of us cannot think of
walking without wearing Caterpillar, Nike or Adidas shoes. But when they have
to walk in simple slippers or even barefoot during the Tawafa of Khana Kaaba
and Saee, none of them feel pain or discomfort. Despite the fact that they must
perform three Tawaf and each Tawaf is about 2 kilometers walk or more if there
is a large crowd of pilgrims inside Haram Sharif. Whereas, during Saee the
pilgrims have to travel about 3.5 kilometers on foot.
The Umrah also teaches us how to lead a simple life, since
pilgrims are required to wear simple clothes unstitched in two white pieces
during the journey. They also learn to sacrifice things that are precious to us
like money, hair and so on, when pilgrims cut their long hair to perform halq
or taqsir which is one of the Umra rituals. The pilgrimage also makes you
respect those who have experienced things you have never experienced.
It also tells us how not to react when things are not going
right and why we should believe in giving to others. The great journey also
teaches us how to endure pain and keep smiling at the same time. Above all, it
teaches us that eveb those who have spent thousands of pounds or dollars on a
package of Umrah VIP are the same in the eyes of Allah as those who sleep under
the open sky in the mountains of Mecca.
In short, the Umrah is a process that will make you
understand human needs, the meaning of being human and the feeling of not being
a special person. You too can reach this supreme level if you can achieve the
Umrah with true honesty.
